The establishment of the Institute for the Training of Sports Executives in Ancient Olympia was voted

The establishment of the Institute for the Training of Sports Executives, based in Ancient Olympia, was voted in parliament as an amendment of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, to a bill of the Ministry of Environment.

According to the amendment tabled early yesterday morning by the Minister of Education Niki Kerameus, the purpose of the new institution will be the continuous training of executives, who participate in sports bodies or sports organizations, of all levels and the dissemination and application of the principles of modern administration in amateur sports.

According to article 6, the Board of Directors (BoD) will be supervised by the Minister responsible for sports, will be appointed by decision of the Minister responsible for sports and consists of seven (7) members with an equal number of alternates.

Its members are appointed as two (2) service executives of the General Secretariat of Sports at the level of the Head of Directorate, three (3) faculty members of the University of the Peloponnese, which undertakes the academic coordination of the training through the Department of Sports Organization and Management (T.O.D.A.), upon the recommendation of the Senate, one (1) representative of the Region of Western Greece, upon the recommendation of the relevant Regional Council as well as one (1) representative of the Municipality of Ancient Greece. Olympia, upon the recommendation of the relevant Municipal Council. The members of I.E.A.S. with their alternates are appointed for a term of four (4) years.

The resources of the E.L.S. are: a) grants from public and private bodies, b) revenues derived from sponsorships of any kind, c) revenues derived from donations, inheritances, bequests and trusts, d) revenues from the organization of conferences, seminars and cultural events and e) revenues from any other legal source.
