Thomas Bach is a lifelong honorary President of the International Olympic Academy

Monday 1^η November 2021, at the offices of the International Olympic Academy, the First Meeting of the new Ephorate of the IOA was held.

The new Ephorate, which came after the implementation of the new IOA statutes, consists of:

1. Isidoros Kouvelos, President IOA
2. Ser Miang Ng, IOC Vice President, Member
3. Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski, Member of the IOC Executive Board, Member
4. Spyridon Capralos, President THE EAO and Member of the IOC for Greece, ex officio Member
5. Pere Miró, Deputy Director General, Member
6. Emmanuel Kolymbadis, Gen. Secretary of the EGT, ex officio Member
7. Spyridon Zannias, Member of the EGOC, Member
8. Alexandra Palli, Member of the EGOC, Member
9. Konstantinos Filis, Member of the EGOC, Member
10. Georgios Georgiopoulos, Mayor of Ancient Olympia, ex officio Member
11. Georgios Karampetsos, member of the EGT, Member

It is the first time that the Board of Directors-Ephorate of the International Olympic Academy includes representatives of the International Olympic Committee, Ser Miang Ng-Vice-President of the IOC, Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski- Member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the IOC's Olympic Education Committee, and Pere Miro-Deputy Director General of the IOC, who highlight with their participation the exceptional importance that the IOC attaches to the work of the Academy and its contribution to the Olympic Family. The members of the IOC expressed their great satisfaction for the renovated facilities in Ancient Olympia, the new organizational structure and the modernized educational program of the IOA.

The first decision concerned the proclamation of the President of the IOC, Dr.Thomas Bach, as Honorary President of the IOA, following a proposal by Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, recognizing his great contribution to the IOA and its future.

Mr. Spyridon Zannias was elected Vice-President of the IOA, as proposed by the PLENARY of the EGTC, following a recommendation by Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos.

The composition of the IOA Executive Committee, the new body added to the new IOA Statute, was decided to be as follows:
