The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the upcoming Winter Olympics

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is preparing to open two temporary offices on the site of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games. The first, the CAS Ad Hoc Division, will resolve any legal disputes that arise during the Games. This temporary tribunal has operated at every edition of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games since 1996, as well as at other major sporting events such as the Commonwealth Games, the UEFA European Football Championships, the AFC Asian Cup, the FIFA World Cup and the Asian Games.

The second temporary office, the CAS Anti-Doping Division, will be in charge of doping-related matters arising during the Games as a first-instance authority. This structure, in operation for the second time after its inauguration at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will handle potential doping cases referred to it in accordance with the IOC Anti-doping Rules.
