Today's crucial referendum for the Olympic Germany

Today is the crucial referendum for the Olympic bid of Hamburg, for the Games of 2024. The residents of Hamburg and neighboring city of Kiel, where the sailing events would take place, must decide for the future of the Germany’s candidate. In order for the Hamburg bid to continue, a majority yes-vote is required -- as well as the support of at least 260,000 people.

According to a survey commissioned by the German Olympic Sports Confederation on November, only 56 percent of Hamburg residents wanted their port city to host the Games, down from 63 percent in September. The final results of the referendum are expected at 22.00 local time tonight.
