The Greek Team departed for the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival

The Greek delegation that will represent us at the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EOF) which will take place at Friuli Venezia Giulia from 21 to 28 January has departed for Italy.
Our country will be represented in the following sports: Alpine skiing, Endurance Racing, Biathlon, Figure Skating and Snowboarding with 10 athletes.
The team includes: Ioannis Koudounas, Stefanos Katsiapis, Maria Papastathi, Maria Moulia (Alpine skiing), Maria Belli, Konstantinos Metsios (Biathlon), Vasilis Rosenlis, Maria Dimitra Tsiarka (Endurance Races), Drosos Karafyllias (Snowboard), Stella Makri (Kal. Skating).
The coaches are Christos Mallios in Alpine skiing, Kyriakos Xanthis in Biathlon, Christos Titas in Endurance Races, Fotios Daskalopoulos in Snowboarding and Maya Zelenkova in Figure Skating.
Our team will be accompanied by the Head of Mission Demosthenes Gyrousis and the Deputy Chief Stratos Karetos while the Youth Ambassador for Greece will be the Figure Skating Athlete Elizabeth Voulgari.
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is organised by the European Olympic Committees and is the first leading European multi-sport event aimed at young athletes aged 14 to 18. There is a winter and a summer version, held every two years. EYOF is under the auspices of the IOC
This year about 1300 athletes from 47 European National Olympic Committees will participate in Italy's top sporting event. The program of the Games contains fourteen sports over eight days: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country racing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing (slopestyle – big air), ski cross, ice hockey, short track, ski jumping, ski mountaineering, alpine and cross snowboarding, freestyle snowboard (slopestyle – big air) and Nordic Combined will be combined into 12 sports facilities.
