Bronze medal of Triantafyllos at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup!

Under the gaze of the Greek Ambassador to the USA Alexandra Papadopoulou, Panagiotis Triantafyllou won the bronze medal in the Second Category Saber, in the premiere of the first major event of the year, the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup, held in the US capital, Washington.

The first woman in this position, since February 2020, as well as many expatriates were on the stands of the National Conference Center, in Belmont, where the games are held, to support the Greek athletes. But also on the arrival of the Greek mission, in the USA, there was an employee of the Greek Embassy, who welcomed her at the airport.
Competitively, Panagiotis Triantafyllou went 8th undefeated, as in the preliminary round he was defeated by all his opponents (Jovan Gisone, Massias Brian Figueredo, Gregor Pluta, Noah Hansen, Laurent Vadon, Sa Rashid).
To be in the "8" he defeated Brazilian Jovan Gisone 15-9 and faced Hungarian István Tarani in the quarterfinals, where he prevailed 15-13 and then in the semifinals he was defeated by the same score 15-13, by the Frenchman Maxim Valle and it was he who deprived him of the way to the final. Where the Frenchman was defeated by Poland's Adrian Castro 15-10 and stayed in 2nd place. This result helps the Greek champion to take an important step towards qualification for the Paralympics.
