The former President of the Cyprus Olympic Committee, Dinos Michaelides, passed away at the age of 78, who was recently hospitalized due to health problems.
The deceased had a huge contribution to our Cypriot sport, culminating in the four-year period 2016-2020 during which he served as president of the Cyprus Olympic Committee and had excellent cooperation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee and its President Spyros Capralos. He was also President of the National Olympic Academy of Cyprus in 2012-2020.
He was also a member of the board of directors of the Cyprus Federation of Amateur Athletics, a member of the board of directors of the Cyprus Sports Organisation, president of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, in charge of the National Plan for the Support of Developmental Sport, as well as a member of the board of directors of APOEL, whom he also served as a trainer of the football team as well as a player and coach of the basketball team.
