International recognition for the President of the Hellenic Sports Federation for people with disabilities

The President of the National Sports Federation of People with Disabilities, Mrs. Ioanna Karyofylli, received great acceptance in the elections of the Executive Council of IBSA held in Jordan.

In a difficult electoral process, where the participants in the General Assembly had to vote seven times for the election of the members, the president of the EOOM-PWD and the only woman president of the Organizing Committee of the Paralympic Games (s.s. Athens 2004) had the full support of the House, received 23 votes and was elected from the very first round.

This is the first time that a Greek participates in an administrative structure of the Executive Board of IBSA, with Ms. Karyofylli occupying one of the five total positions of members. 33 countries participated in the General Assembly, while there were a total of 15 candidates for the position of members.

During the General Assembly, the next day of the judo blind was discussed at length as a revision of the sport's classification code is underway in order to create a fairer system of competitions.

President of the IBSA for the new four-year term, the Italian Sandro Di Girolamo was elected, while the positions of vice-president and general secretary were occupied respectively by Ilgar Rahimov (Azerbaijan) and Sally Wood Lamod (Romania). Treasurer was elected the Turkish Eren Yildirim.
