The humorous book Toon In! on the theme of the Olympic Games

Michael Payne, a former IOC director and long-time Olympics commentator, presents "Toon In!". With this book, he wanted to create a unique work using special cartoons to reveal through them, the amazing story behind the modern Olympics.
As a collector of Olympics-themed cartoons, Michael has amassed more than 1,200 cartoons accompanied by a 100,000-word personal text to create a 500-page collector's book.
Published 50 days before the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the publication is an imprint of black humour, genius optics and the caustic view of four hundred of the world's greatest cartoonists about the world's organisation of the Olympic Games over the years. The total profits from the book will go to the four charities: Back Up Trust, Cartooning for Peace, Peace and Sport and Yunus Sports Hub.
Speaking to Toon In!, its creator said: "I've always admired the talent of a cartoonist. When I was working at the IOC, my office always decorated sketches about the Olympics that surprised everyone. With the internment brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the time and opportunity to do a great deal of research on more than 3,000 cartoons about the Olympic Games and discover many rare and anecdotal stories. It was a fun, complicated and time-consuming task, but I hope that in these difficult times, this book will manage to give people some smiles. “
Michael Payne's long experience at the Olympics through his work at the IOC allows him to offer rare information about the amazing stories behind the sketches. Some of them will surprise and some will shock the public.
Greek designer Theodora Mantzaris, top design director for major sporting events, has also contributed to the creation of this original work. Ms. Mantzaris was director of the design team at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and became the IOC Design Consultant at all subsequent Olympic Games.
