IWBF Europe has announced that the 14th European Men's Championship (Division B), awarded to OSEKA, will be held from 11 to 18 July 2021 in our country and in particular at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Eight teams will try to win the two remaining available tickets for the European Men's Championship (Division A), which will take place next December in Madrid, Spain. More important, however, is the fact that in the midst of a pandemic, we will be able to host the biggest event since the 2004 Paralympic Games.
In Piraeus and sef will be: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Austria (the last two come from the European First Division Men's Championship, held in Poland in 2019), as well as Serbia, which our National defeated in the final in Sofia in 2019 and together they climbed the category. The teams will be divided into groups after the draw that will be announced in the coming days, when we will be able to present the full schedule of matches. In the first phase each team will play once with all the opponents of the group, the quarter-finals are set for Friday 16 July, while the matches leading to the medals will take place on Sunday 18 July. Already, in cooperation with IWBF Europe, strict protocols are being developed in order to ensure that the games are held safely, as above all it is the health of all participants. The races will take place without people on the podium, but all competitions will be streamed live.
