The Tokyo Olympics will be held without the presence of fans from other countries, as decided at an online meeting of the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee, the Japanese government, the Tokyo authorities and international Olympic and Paralympic Committees, in order to decide the presence of spectators from abroad at the Olympic Games.
The 600,000 Olympic tickets and 30,000 Paralympic Games purchased by residents abroad will be refunded, but the cost of hotel reservations to be cancelled will not be covered, according to a statement after the five-day meeting, which also included IOC chief Thomas Bach and Tokyo Governor Yurico Koike.
