After 12 years in the Olympic events of Winter Sports, Metsovitis gymnast Vasilis Katsoras announced that he is leaving the public and giving the baton to the younger generation. Katsoras was head of the Greek Olympic mission in 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi.
In detail, Mr Katsora's letter: 'At the end of my term of office following the Tokyo Olympic Games and in view of the upcoming EEAA elections, I would like to tell you that I do not wish to be a candidate again both for the position of representative in the EEA and for any other post.
I made this decision consciously considering that the factors should not remain eternally in place and should also give the opportunity to younger capable individuals to offer more than they offered themselves.
My 12-year tenure at the EEA, with which I was honoured by the clubs with their vote and I am grateful for that, was an incessant struggle for the interests of the EEAA and for fairness in the choices of athletes.
I am leaving, Mr President, with satisfaction that I have given every rune of my soul to the prestige of the EEAA and the dignity of our country.'
