With a fourteen-member delegation, the Cyprus Paralympic Committee will represent Cyprus at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Specifically, apart from our three athletes, the mission includes coaches, escorts of the athletes, rather than medical staff as well as the assistant and Captain of our Paralympic team.
The members of the Cyprus delegation declare to us their enthusiasm and at the same time their great pride to represent our country in the biggest sporting event on the planet.
Our three athletes who will compete in the stadiums of Paris are: The three-time Paralympic Gold Medalist Carolina Pelendritou, who will compete in swimming for the sixth consecutive time. Maria Markou will compete in Weightlifting for the second consecutive time and in athletics in his first appearance Victor Pentaras.
Carolina Pelendritou was appointed flag bearer at the opening ceremony to be held on August 28.
At today's Press Conference on the occasion of the official presentation of the mission, held in Limassol, the President of the Cyprus Paralympic Committee, Andreas Kamarligos, stated, inter alia, that the Paralympic team represents the ultimate example of resilience, strength and passion.
The Head of Mission, Andreas Theofylaktou, stressed in turn that the effort is a team effort and the atmosphere is impeccable among the whole team.
It is worth noting that the mission will reside within the Paralympic village, which will open on August 22 and close permanently on September 10.
The press conference was attended by members of the Executive Board of KEPE, the CSO, sponsors, a representative of the Ministry of Education as well as representatives of the French Embassy.
