The Hellenic Olympic Committee participated in the world relay for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

March 14, 2023 is a landmark date as it marks the 500 days before the start of the Olympic Games and to celebrate this event, the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee in collaboration with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French embassies united around the world to participate in a 24-hour virtual relay, a symbolic move that sends a strong message of global unity while highlighting the power of sports.

In Greece, the action took place at the Panathenaic Stadium and while initially a celebration rich in sports activities was planned with the participation of children from various schools in Attica, due to the mourning for the recent railway tragedy it was transformed into a more austere event in which the Embassy of France in Greece, the French Institute, the Hellenic Olympic Committee participated, the National Olympic Academy as well as students of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the French College IdEF.

Baden champion Kyriaki Filtisakou "picked up" the baton from Djibouti and after a race inside the Stadium handed it over to the French Ambassador Mr. Patrick Maisonnave who in turn "handed it over" to Switzerland to continue her journey around the world. Thanks to this symbolic action, Greece in turn conveyed the strong message of global unity and solidarity through the emblematic Panathenaic Stadium, the stadium that hosted the first modern Olympic Games.
