Opening for the world championship of table tennis for people with disabilities

After 4 years (the corresponding event of 2020 was canceled due to the coronavirus) the world championship of table tennis of people with disabilities is held. For the first time in the 22-year history of the institution, the event will be hosted in Spain and Granada (Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada 6-12/11). A total of 82 standing and 70 wheelchair athletes participate (due to numerical limit), from 51 countries. There will be 39 races and not only people with mobility problems, but also with mental retardation (class 11) participate.

Greece, for the first time in the prestigious event, the World Para Table Tennis Championships, is represented by two athletes, Giorgos Mouchthis and Evanthia-Irini Bournia. In their first participation in a World championship, both will compete in the singles, the 28-year-old champion in the standing class and the 16-year-old champion in the class 1 of wheelchairs.
