A decisive step for the equal access and active participation of people with visual disabilities in the activities of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall was carried out with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Organization and the Center for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind.
The Protocol was co-signed by the President of the O.M.M.Th. Mr. Vassilis Gakis and the Director and President of the Board of Directors of K.E.A.T. Mrs. Sofia Chamonikolaou, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, responsible for Welfare and Social Solidarity, Mrs. Domna Michailidou and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, responsible for contemporary Culture issues, Mr. Nikolas Giatromanolakis.
The main priority of the cooperation is to strengthen the cultural and social integration in general of people with visual disabilities through universally accessible performances, means of information and description of cultural goods, printed matter, as well as exhibition and other actions of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Organization. Also, among other things, the exchange of know-how, documented knowledge, theoretical processing and research experience, the joint organization of scientific training cycles, such as workshops, seminars, conferences or music and other events designed and consisting of artists-people with visual disabilities, as well as the investigation of the possibility of implementing an integrated product, study, design research and construction of visual maps through modern treatment methods for people with visual disabilities in order to better guide them in the premises and the surrounding area of the Organization.
