Proposal for the renaming of the Region of Western Greece to "Region of Olympic Land" or "Olympic Region"

During the proceedings of the 2nd day of the conference on the National Strategic Plan for Sports, the Regional Governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakis, proposed the renaming of the Region of Western Greece to "Region of Olympic Land" or "Olympic Region".

"Since the geographical designations, at least in the Region of Western Greece, have lost their value, because the name includes a huge geographical area from Epirus to the Peloponnese, I think that better definition and greater value, is what we have already done in another way, creating a brand name of extroversion, that of the ''Olympic Land''", said Nektarios Farmakis.
