Representatives of athletes from the European Olympic Committees (HOC) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had productive discussions with Margaritis Schinas, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for "Promoting our European Way of Life", in Brussels on 10 March.
The constructive meeting enabled the President of the EOEE Athletes' Committee, Gerd Kanter, who participated remotely, and the President of the IOC Athletes' Committee, Emma Terho, to present their participation, on behalf of European athletes, in the Conference on the Future of Europe in the form of recommendations on the priorities of European sport in the coming years. Together with Mr. Kanter and Mrs. Terho was attended by HOC President and member of the IOC Spyros Capralos, HOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi, MEMBER of the HOC Athletes' Committee Viktor Knoch, Director of the EU Office of EOIs Folker Hellmund as well as Director of the IOC Athletes' Department Kaveh Mehrabi.
The Conference on the Future of Europe is a major consultation of citizens developed by the EU to listen to the expectations and ideas of its citizens about its future priorities. In this context, the European Olympic Movement, and in particular its athletes, took the opportunity for a partnership with the leadership of the European Commission.
