The Cyprus team for the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

The Cyprus Olympic Committee presented the mission that will take part in the XXIV Winter Olympic Games that begin on 4 February and will last until the 20th of the same month. The press conference held at the Olympic Palace was attended by, among others, the Ambassador of China, Liu Giantao, the Advisor to the President of the Republic, Fivos Zachariadis, the President of the CSO Andreas Michaelides, Presidents and representatives of sports federations, Mr. Isidoros Makridis (Member of the Board of Directors of OPAP Cyprus), Mrs. Katerina Nikolaou (Head of Press Office & Media Communications RCB) and many friends of winter sports and especially of skiing.

At the beginning of the press conference, the President of the Board of Directors of RIK Michalis Michael, with the President of the Cyprus Olympic Committee Georgios Chrysostomou, announced the achievement of a new agreement of cyBC through which a doubling of the hours of live transmission of the Olympic Games is foreseen, starting with the event in Beijing. From it will be screened 50 hours of live broadcast, including the event in which the Cypriot skier Yiannos Kougioumtzian will take part.

The Cypriot delegation to the games is five members and consists of the Vice-President of the KOE Yiotis Ioannidis who will also be the Head of Mission, the General Secretary of the KOE Andreas Georgiou, an athlete Yiannos Kougioumtzian who will participate in alpine skiing, the Homopondian coach Milan Matic and the escort of the team Andreas Eleftheriou.
