The Athletic Union of the Blind "Torch", with the support of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and under the auspices of the National Athletic Federation of People with Disabilities and the Greek Paralympic Committee, organizes the 23rd international football tournament for the blind "Torch 2021", from 3-5 December 2021.
The games will be held in the new reconstructed stadium of the National Sports Center. Five teams will participate in the games, namely the National Team of Greece, the team of the Moscow region (Russia), the team of Florence (Italy), the team from Bruno (Czech Republic) and of course the Torch of Thessaloniki. The players participating in our representative group are Giorgos Ampatzis, Emilios Kaklamanos, Theodoros Siotas, Dimitris Feimoglou, Dimos Zacharos, Efstratios Englezos, Sostis Karagiannopoulos and Nikolaos Gagkoulis.
The international tournament has a history of 24 years with the first one taking place in 1997, the year that Thessaloniki was the European Capital of Culture.
The games will be held in accordance with the rules of the international federation of sports for the blind. The organizer of the tournament is the Sports Association of the Blind torch and the contact number is 6936578934.
The races will start on Friday at 16:00 with the thessaloniki-florence torch showdown, while the closing ceremony and the award ceremony will take place on Sunday morning (11:00).
