The International Seminar of Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students

The 28th International Seminar of Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students is taking place online from 15 to 21 November due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The main theme of the Seminar is: "The Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement: Past, Present and Future – Analysis from historical, philosophical and social perspectives" and the special topic: "Olympic Movement and Pandemic".

The Honorary Dean of the IOA, Prof. Dr. Constantinos Georgiadis, who will oversee the work of the Seminar, welcomed and presented the speakers and participants. During the Seminar, eminent academic personalities will give lectures, namely: Prof. Dr. Christian Wacker (GRE) President of ISOH, Prof. Dr. Angela Schneider (CAN), Director of the International Centre for Olympic Studies, Prof. Dr. Patrick Clastres (FRA), Professor Sports History at the University of Lausanne, Dr Adrianna Banio (POL), Assistant Professor at the University of Szczecin in Poland, Dr. Mateusz Rozmiarek (POL), President of the Youth Department of the National Olympic Academy of Poland and Prof. Dr. Jan Tolleneer (BEL), Professor in the history of sport, comparative studies and applied ethics at KU Leuven.

This year, 2/3 of the participants are PhD holders and apart from the daily courses they will also participate in working groups and will present their work on contemporary scientific issues related to the Olympic Movement. In addition to their academic duties, students will also participate in social and cultural activities.
