Organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games have announced that all 68 domestic sponsors have agreed in principle to extend their contracts for the delayed event. The rescheduling of the Games to this summer, coupled with the economic downturn, had cast doubt over whether companies would continue their partnerships with Tokyo 2020 in light of the postponement.
The likes of Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and travel agency JTB Corp, in particular, have been hit hard by the sharp decline in travel demand. However, Tokyo 2020 president Yoshiro Mori told a news conference that those companies and other prominent Japanese brands remain committed to the Games.
