The Opening Ceremony of the 56th International Session for Young Participants of the International Olympic Academy will take place on Sunday, June 12 at 19:00 on the hill of the Pnyx. The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Prokopios Pavlopoulos will honour the Ceremony with his presence. The President of the International Olympic Academy, Mr Isidoros Kouvelos, and the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committte, Mr Spyros Capralos will address the guests while the President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr Thomas Bach, will send a message.
162 young men and women from 97 countries and 22 coordinators will participate in the 56th International Session that will be concluded on the 25th of June. The basic subject of the session is “Olympism as an effective tool for development and Sustainability” while its special subject is “Olympic Values-based learning as an effective tool for environmental protection”. The musical parts of the Opening Ceremony of the session will be interpreted by Ms Dora Louizou and Mr Manolis Skoulas, accompanied by the Greek Music Workshop of the Municipality of Athens under the conduction of Mr Vasilis Drolias. The Children’s Olympic Choir of the National Olympic Academy of Greece, will interpret the Olympic Anthem and the National Anthem of Greece under the conduction of Mr Stavros Beris.
