The Museum that never sleeps!

For the 5th consecutive year, the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki welcomes the innovating action ‘Overnight at the MuseumSleepover'which was designed in collaboration with the Directorate of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

The little friends of the museum, having as main equipment a sleeping bag and a flashlight, have the opportunity to live a unique experience. The children explore the ancient Olympics, the birth of the Olympics while coming into contact with Olympic values such as excellence, respect and friendship, with highly creative way, knowing the ancient Olympic sports, through educational programs prepared in specially designated areas within the permanent exhibition 'Olympic Games' of the museum.

The night program in museums is one of the most modern international museological practices, launched organized in Greece and especially in the museums of Thessaloniki in 2011, offering the opportunity for hundreds of children to become acquainted with the museums of the city. The program is aimed at children aged 7-12 years and implemented by teachers of each museum, and especially for the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, the program produced by experienced museum educators of the Department of Educational Programmes in the presence of teachers, as well as members of the Samaritans Club of the Red Cross.
