Boxing will be included in the sports program of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This was approved by the 144th Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the second day of the meeting in Messinia.
This decision was based on the proposal of the IOC Executive Board following the recommendation of the Olympic Programme Committee and the provisional recognition of World Boxing as the International Federation in the Olympic Movement that governs the sport of boxing at a global level.
Boxing was not included in the original Los Angeles sports program approved by the IOC Summit in February 2022, due to ongoing concerns around the International Boxing Association at the time. After the International Boxing Association's recognition was lifted on June 22, 2023, the inclusion of boxing in the Los Angeles sports program was on hold
