In Messinia will be held from 19 to 21 March the 144η Session of the International Olympic Committee, at which the new President of the International Olympic Committee to succeed Thomas Bach will be elected.
The official Opening Ceremony of the Session will take place on Tuesday, March 18 in Ancient Olympia, in the presence of the new President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Opening Ceremony will begin at 15.00 and apart from the speeches by the President of the Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas, the President of the IOC Thomas Bach, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Isidoros Kouvelos and the IOC Member in Greece Spyros Capralos, there will be an artistic program curated by the Choreographer of the Olympic Flame Ceremonies, Artemis Ignatiou.
The Ceremony will take place without the presence of an audience and only accredited persons will have the right to watch it and the Olympic Channel will also be broadcast.
The events of that day will begin with the symbolic olive planting ceremony in the garden of the Old Town Hall of Ancient Olympia by the President of the Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas, the President of the IOC Thomas Bach, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos and the Mayor of Ancient Olympia, Aris Panagiotopoulos.
This will be followed by a meeting between the President of the Republic and the President of the IOC with all members of the International Olympic Committee at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia.
The elections for the 10th President of the IOC will take place on 20 March and the Session will end on 21 March.
