The international festival 'The reflection of art on disability' of the University of Macedonia

The International Festival "Reflection of disability in art" (iRoDi), as an institution of the University of Macedonia and as a unit for the Support of Social Inclusion through Art of the Laboratory of Applications of Educational and Social Inclusion of People with Learning and Adaptation Difficulties (EKOIS), is organized this year for the 6th year from November 30 to December 7, 2024 at the University of Macedonia.

The aim of the Festival is to support and promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities through their participation in cultural events in any role they wish, as actors, directors, volunteers or simply as spectators. The main objective of the International Festival "The reflection of disability in art" is to promote art through the perspective of disability.

Regarding the Competition Section, out of 756 films of all genres submitted via filmfreeway and email from around the world, 99 films were selected. The films are included in: Social Support-Social Networks, Interpersonal Relationships, Life Dimensions of Disabled People, Disability: a Living Condition Disability and Art, Family Relationships, Disability and Sports.

The artistic program of the Festival includes screenings of films, Greek and foreign productions, musical performances and many other artistic activities. The festival opens its doors on November 30 with the Inclusive Dance Group RoDance and Felix Roeper, a dancer with Down syndrome, who will come to Greece with the support of the Austrian Embassy in Athens. On December 4 at the Basketball Court of the University of Macedonia there will be a presentation of Paralympic Sports in collaboration with the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, while on December 5 after the screening of films in the afternoon there will be a discussion with Paralympians.
