The time interval from 1η until 19η November has been declared as the 19 Days of Activism Against Children Abuse with a view to emphasising the fact that more and more children today are victims of violence by adults.
Also the 20η November has been designated by the UN. as the World Day for the Children's Rights , as recorded and described by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which recognises that childhood is a vulnerable phase and that children need special care and protection.
In the context of its continuous and active presence in Greek society, the Hellenic Olympic Committee has been active as a partner in the European project since January 2024 Erasmus + GUARD with a view to strengthening the Child Protection in Sports .
This three-year program involves 7 National Olympic Committees (Croatia, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and North Macedonia) with final recipients the Olympic Sports Federations of their countries, which are called upon to appoint a Child Protection Officer for their sport and develop a mechanism to prevent, manage and deal with any negative incident both during training and competitions.
The Head of each Federation, after receiving through the Program the necessary guidance and training, will undertake the implementation of actions not only to identify and deal with unpleasant behaviors or incidents but mainly to prevent, prevent and eliminate them.
