Five new sports approved for Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games

The five sports proposed for inclusion in the program of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games were approved today by the executive board of the International Olympic Committee and now remain to be formally approved by the IOC General Assembly to be held on Sunday in Mumbai, India.

The five sports are cricket, "flag football", lacrosse, squash and baseball-softball. The IOC Executive Committee also recommended keeping weightlifting on the program, unlike boxing, for which a new decision is expected.
