On the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities, on Saturday, December 3, the Department of Sports Excellence of the First Orthopedic Surgery Clinic of the Medical School of EKPA, in collaboration with the Third Pediatric Clinic of the Medical School of EKPA and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), presents a discussion on: "The Role of Sports in the Development of Children with Disabilities" at the SNFCC Lighthouse. Given the strong symbolism of this day, but also the need to emphasize the physical and mental health of children with disabilities, the discussion aims to raise awareness of their rights. The multidimensional role that sport plays in the development of children – as well as their equal access to it – drastically enhance the possibility of claiming equal opportunities in their daily lives.
Specialized scientists and distinguished guests discuss with empathy, emphasize the need to combat all forms of discrimination and exclusion of students with disabilities and send a message of practical respect for diversity. The event is implemented in the framework of the Action for Kids with Disabilities action designed and implemented by the Department of Sports Excellence. There will be simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language.
