Briefing of the International Olympic Committee on the issue of the manipulation of sports competitions

The International Committee of the Mediterranean Games continues to cooperate with the International Olympic Committee on the issue of the manipulation of sports competitions during the Mediterranean Games in Oran.

Evangelos Alexandrakis, Director of Communication NOCs at the Olympic Movement Unit for the Prevention of Manipulation of the Games, together with Dieter Braekeveld from Interpol traveled to Oran and organized lectures to the athletes in the Mediterranean Village on match-fixing and manipulation of sports competitions.

Almost 400 athletes during the 4 days of the action were informed about the topic and showed enough interest and motivation to further understand the problem. Many of the athletes had not heard anything before about the subject and did not know the rules.
