A Cooperation Agreement was signed on April 6, 2022 – this symbolic day where 126 years ago (1896) the modern Olympic Games were revived – the Municipality of Ancient Olympia and the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki. A partnership of historical importance that unites the place that connects ancient with modern Olympic history and at the same time a historical chapter of the world Olympic heritage, with the first Olympic Museum in the country (2001), founding member of the World Network of Olympic Museums (Lausanne, 2006) and Certified Body by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Education.
The historic Cooperation Agreement was signed at the Headquarters of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, in the presence of the President of the HOC and member of the IOC Spyros Capralos, by the representatives of the two institutions, and in particular on behalf of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia, Mr. Georgios Georgiopoulos, Mayor and Mr. Dimitris Kostarias, Deputy Mayor of Sports, while on behalf of the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, Mr. Stylianos Angeloudis, President Board of Directors and Vice President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and Dr. Kyriaki Udatzi, Director and CEO of the Board of Directors, Member of the Hellenic Olympic Academy and President of the I.C.O. "OLYMPiA'.
