The iconic 'Run for Tokyo' race

The Embassy of Japan in Greece, courtesy of M/MARITIME, organizes the virtual raceRun For Tokyoto celebrate the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to support athletes who for the first time will compete without spectators and under difficult conditions.


For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, athletes from all over the world will not compete in crowded stadiums or have their family and loved ones give them strength from the stands.

Let's all run the virtual race together.Run For Tokyoto show our support to all athletes and wish them success!

Registration opened Friday, July 9, 2021.

Participants will be able to choose between the distances of the5kmor10km, and run on any route that serves them any day and time from July 9th to 23rd, while they have the opportunity to run the distance they will declare one or more times, improving each time their time and climbing the ranking of the race results.

Registration in theRun For Tokyoit's free. Those who complete their route and upload their result to the application successfully will have the opportunity to choose whether to receive the commemorative medal of the race.

All participants will receive a digital commemorative diploma to participate in the Olympic Day events, June 23rd.

The event is under the auspices of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, the International Olympic Academy, the General Secretariat of Sport of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Municipality of Athens, the Central Association of Municipalities of Greece and is part of the events of the International Olympic Committee for the Olympic Day which is celebrated on 23 June the day of its foundation in 1894 and the awarding of the Olympic Games in Athens.
