The heart of the European Olympic family will be beating for three days in Athens, from 9 to 11 June with the holding of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees and the meeting of the Executive Committee.
During the General Assembly, at noon on Thursday 10 June, the elections for the new Executive Committee will also be held, with the President of the EEE and IOC member Spyros Kapralo being a candidate for the post of President. His opponent is The President of the Danish Olympic Committee Niels Nygaard who also performs as President of the European Olympic Committees. The new Executive Committee will result from the votes of Europe's 50 National Olympic Committees.
The activities of the European Olympic Committees, preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the 3rd European Games "Krakow – Malopolska 2023" will also be presented. The winner of the Piotr Nurowski Award for best European young athlete will also be announced.
The opening of the General Assembly will take place in an Athens hotel on Thursday at 09:30 in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Sport, Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis.
Throughout the General Assembly, the 50th anniversary of the European Olympic Committees will be celebrated, with the most important moments of the last 50 years in Europe, by the 50 National Olympic Committees, International and European Federations.
