Planning for the integration of refugees with disabilities

At a meeting of the President of the ESAME Ioannis Vardakastanis and the scientific staff of the ESAMES Evelina Kallimanis with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Migration responsible for the integration of refugees Sofia Vultesis, the possible policies for the integration of refugees with disabilities were discussed. The Secretary of State developed the Ministry's plan for the social integration of refugees with disabilities and chronic conditions, including war disabled people and victims of torture, who are applicants for or beneficiaries of international protection.

All the initiatives and programmes it has implemented on the protection of refugees with disabilities and/or chronic diseases have been presented in detail by the ESA, while stressing the need for an integrated design of social inclusion policies and measures. The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to direct cooperation on the universal inclusion of refugees with disabilities and/or chronic diseases, in the light of the promotion of a society equal for all.
