Great progress for the next Winter Olympics' PyeongChang 2018 '

The President of the IOC Tomas Bach saw the progress of the Organising Committee of the Winter Olympics PyeongChang 2018. The progress made on a number of venues at the mountain cluster, including the sliding centre and the International Broadcast Centre. He also visited the construction site of the Olympic Village, where all 600 apartments have already been sold to the public. He met the staff who had recently moved to a new headquarters in PyeongChang. Addressing the staff, President Bach told them that 500 days to go was a critical landmark when they would “begin to see all their planning being implemented”.

Later he went on to Gangneung, where the ice sports competitions will be held. He saw the great progess being made at the figure skating, speed skating and ice hockey venues, which will all host test events this winter. Earlier, the President met the Sports Ministers of Korea, Japan and China, who have signed a cooperation agreement ahead of the three Olympic Summer and Winter Games coming up consecutively in Asia in the next six years.
