Ticket sales for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games passed the two million mark as the Brazilian public continues to be inspired by the event. Athletes and officials have praised the atmosphere at venues, especially inside the swimming stadium each night, and Barra Olympic Park hosted more people – 170,000 – for Paralympic events last Saturday (10 September) than on the busiest day of the Olympic Games (157,000 people on 7 August).
By passing the 1.7 million mark last week, Rio 2016 had already become the second most successful Paralympic Games of all time, in terms of ticket sales, behind only London.
