Thessaloniki – Olympia by bike for the ideals of Olympism!

In order to raise awareness for Olympism 4 Humanity (O4H-an organization dedicated to promoting peace through sport and the Olympic Ideals) and Peace,O4H has organized a Bike4Peace Fundraising Ride from Thessaloniki to Ancient Olympia, Greece, on 7 July. Founder and Producer Iacovos Demetriou will be participating alongside Tassos Kyriakides, Polys Poumbouris, Savvas Savva & Michalis Theocharous.

The trip will take place over a period of one week as the cycling team will stop at cities along the way for talks, presentations and cultural events while connecting people and promoting Olympism, Peace, Humanity and Sports. The ride will start at Thessaloniki and pass through main cities and towns in Greece. A variety of partners would be involved to make this ride possible. Partners include Olympism 4 Humanity, International Olympic Truce, Yale Hellenic Studies Program and other organizations whose principles align with the cause of promoting, through and with the Olympic ideals, peace and stability in the world. The aim is to raise awareness and funds through connecting with and encouraging local biking communities to join us and help us with organizing sponsorships and accommodations. Participants will also be encouraged to raise money through pledging a monetary amount, per mile/ kilometer biked. All proceeds will go to O4H and/or any other organization each cyclist is riding for. Corporate sponsorship will be sought from bike companies, telecommunications and mass media companies, food and drink companies, rental car companies and airlines as well as private foundations and other donors.
