Paris 2024 co-chairman Bernard Lapasset has been officially awarded the title of Commandeur de la Légion d'Honneur by French President François Hollande. Lapasset, who will stand down from his role as chairman of World Rugby this year, was named in the New Year's Honours List in France and is one of a select group of sportspeople to be chosen for the recognition.
He was anointed Officer in 2007 and has now made the step up to Commander for his continued service and dedication to sport. The 68-year-old being named in the New Year's Honours List came following a successful staging of the Rugby World Cup in England in September and October.
