The International Paralympic Committee at the United Nations

The International Paralympic Committee’s President Sir Philip Craven met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the UN’s headquarters in New York, the USA. During the 20 minute meeting Sir Philip talked about his excitement for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and the role of the Agitos Foundation in developing para-sport around the world.

The British born President highlighted that he believes the Paralympic Games are the world’s number one sporting event for driving social inclusion and can contribute to the success of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In return, Ban Ki-moon praised Sir Philip’s leadership and the IPC’s role in advancing sport for people of all abilities around the world.
