The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with Los Angeles 2024 which formalizes the city’s relationship with the bid committee and role in the candidature process for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The memorandum underscores LA 2024’s commitment to privately funding the candidature process and against committing any city funds without the city’s approval. It also reinforces LA 2024’s strong desire for a transparent candidature process, committing its leaders to meeting regularly with the city throughout the process. The Council's approval of the memorandum comes after its unanimous 15-0 vote in September to support LA 2024's efforts to bring the Games back to the United States for the first time in 28 years.
