Boccia in the test events of Rio 2016

The second wave of Rio 2016 test events, which will be more focused on indoor sports, will begin on Thursday (12 November) with a Paralympic sport. The International Boccia Tournament will feature 22 athletes from Brazil, Great Britain, Portugal, Russia and Israel competing at Riocentro Pavilion 4 in Barra.

The tournament will continue until Saturday (14 November), with team competitions on Thursday and individual competitions on the final two days. Rio 2016 will use the event to assess various operations, with a special focus on the transport of athletes. Arrivals and departures services – featuring airport and hotel transfers – will be closely analysed, as will anti-doping operations, volunteer activities and the playing surface. The Rio 2016 accessibility team will play a key role in the event.
