Olympic celebrations kicked off across New Zealand this week with 85 Schools involved nationwide and 13 Olympic pin presentations made to New Zealand Olympians. Up to 20,000 young New Zealanders will explore the Olympic values in discussions and activities provided by the New Zealand Olympic Committee. Resources have been provided to schools to stimulate discussion, encourage physical activity and to recognize the Olympic Values in action.
A number of these schools will also have a visit from an Olympian or a New Zealand Olympic Ambassador. The goal of the visits is for our Olympians to inspire young New Zealanders with their unique Olympic Stories and to promote excellence, friendship and respect.
