The national wheelchair fencing championship was successfully completed

With Panathinaikos triumphant, the Panhellenic Wheelchair Fencing Championship organized by the National Sports Federation of People with Disabilities in collaboration with the University of West Attica was completed at the University of Alsos Egaleo Campus. A cooperation that took on an even more formal character, after the relevant memorandum signed by the two bodies and which will be a springboard for joint actions in the near future.

The "green" swords won a total of nine medals, namely five gold, three silver and one bronze. Three golds were won by the holder of two medals in the Paralympic Games, Panagiotis Triantafyllou, while the other two were won by Vassilis Dounis. The second place in the ranking was taken by PASYPKA Spartakos with four gold and one bronze, while the third place was taken by the Eagles of Athens with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Before the awards, the President of EAOM-PWD, Ioanna Karyofyllis, signed with the Rector of the University of West Attica, Panagiotis Kaldis, a protocol of cooperation between the two bodies, which both last year and this year, jointly organized the Panhellenic wheelchair fencing championship at the headquarters of the Higher Educational Institution.

The event was honored with the presence of Paris Kontesis, representative of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, Giorgos Stamatis, Secretary General of Social Solidarity and The Fight against Poverty, Giorgos Kapellakis, president of the Greek Paralympic Committee, Ioannis Lignos, president of the Hellenic Fencing Federation, Haris Perdikis, president of UCITS, Christina Massiala, member of the Equality Committee of IWAS Fencing, Efstathia Papageorgiou, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Welfare. On the sidelines of the championship, the federal coach Dimitris Kazaglis made a presentation of the sport, while the event closed an award ceremony to Mrs. Papageorgiou, to Professor and Head of the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art of PADA George Panagiaris, to the Associate Professor of the Department of Physiotherapy and Institutional Head of Support for People with Disabilities of PADA Daphne Bakalidou and the Head of the Sports Department of PADA Eliza Loukaitou.
