Granting of scholarships to Greek medalists of the Mediterranean Games

The Plenary Session of the Hellenic Olympic Committee decided at its meeting of July 12 to grant scholarships to athletes who won medals at the Mediterranean Games Oran 2022.
The proposal of the Head of Mission to the Mediterranean, Nikos Xylouris, which was accepted, concerns the support with 4,000 euros for those who won gold medals, 2,000 euros for those who took the silver medal and 1,000 euros for the bronze.
In team sports the amount will be divided equally between the members of the team. In the case of more than one medal, the reward refers to the best position taken by the athlete in the games.
It is the first time in history that the HOC has provided scholarships to distinguished athletes in the Mediterranean Games and the decision was taken in order to reward the athletes who stood out in Oran in the midst of the difficult economic situation, especially since the level of the recent Mediterranean Games was particularly high and competitive with the participation of dozens of athletes who won medals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
