The Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony in Ancient Olympia on October 18th

The Olympic Flame will be transported by a few Torchbearers to Ancient Olympia and then will travel to Athens

The Hellenic Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympic Games "Beijing 2022" and the International Olympic Committee announces that the Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony will take place in Ancient Olympia on October 18th.
Due to the situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Touch Ceremony will take place in strict compliance with the health protocol and the Torch Relay on Greek soil will last for a shorter duration than in the recent past.

The Olympic Flame will be transported by a few Torchbearers to Ancient Olympia and then will travel to Athens. The next day, October 19, in a ceremony at the Panathenaic Stadium will be delivered to the mission of the Organizing Committee of Beijing. The two ceremonies in Ancient Olympia and the Panathenaic Stadium will take place without the presence of the public and will be attended only by accredited individuals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
