1 million dollars from the International Olympic Committee to the victims of 'Irma'

With several Caribbean islands devastated by Hurricane Irma, the International Olympic Committee has set up a $1 million emergency fund to help rebuild sports infrastructure.

Irma devastated the Caribbean last week as a Category 5 storm, flattening buildings and leaving extensive damage on several islands, including the British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Barbuda, Anguilla and St. Martin/St. Maarten. The hurricane killed more than 30 people in the Caribbean. The IOC will work with National Olympic Committees to decide how to best assist them and will consider increasing the amount of the fund once it has a full assessment of the damage.
