New award for the President of the International Paralympic Committee

At the prestigious BT Sport Industry awards in London, Great Britain, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Sir Philip Craven was awarded the Leadership in Sport Award. The award was handed to him by Olympic hockey champion Kate Richardson-Walsh in recognition of the IPC’s bold decision making during 2016. This included dealing with Rio 2016s financial issues ahead of the Paralympic Games and the IPC’s decision to suspend the Russian Paralympic Committee following the publication of the McLaren Report.

The BT Sport Industry Awards, the largest of its kind, celebrates the best of the British sports industry and attracts sports stars, celebrities and senior figures from across the industry and beyond. Trophies were awarded in front of 1,700 industry leaders and their guests at the star-studded event which attracted the likes of David Weir, Tom Daly, Laura Kenny, Max Whitlock, Wes Morgan, Chris Eubank, David Haye and Jodie Kidd.
