The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) along with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Art Poster Competitions. The open call for the competition begins today followed by a briefing session on May 18 at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (Seoul). Contestants will be able to submit their application from July 24-31. Winners will be announced in September, 2017.

The 10 winning designs for each Games will be displayed in various museums and art galleries such as the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and Gangneung Art Center. The individual artists or groups who create the ten winning entries will each receive ten million Korean Won as their prize. The winners of the Olympic competition will also have their work archived by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The aim of the campaign is to engage artists and give them a chance to have their creative work showcased on a global stage through the Games. It is also an important avenue to promote the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games by involving artists from different areas who have creative ideas and convey the messages and themes in a variety of ways.
