The Rio 2016 culture programme, Celebra, promoted the diversity of Brazilian culture. The programme included artistic performances that took place in the streets, parks, squares and on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. It focused its initiatives on six areas: popular art, scenic art, visual art, dance, literature and music.
Celebra left two main legacies for Brazil: a digital platform of free, bilingual and illustrated research, including the main events ordered chronologically; and a timeline of Brazilian culture that was developed in partnership with the National Art Foundation (Funarte).
